Attention baseball and indie film lovers: Here come THE YANKLES

Call it "A League of Their Own" with orthodox yeshiva Jews. Or, as the box teases, "In the Big Inning . . ." Genesis 1: 1.

Every now and then a film comes along that's just so off the wall it's no wonder you haven't heard of it. "The Yankles" is a 2009 film about Charlie Jones (Brian Wimmer), a washed-up ex-major leaguer who gets a second chance at baseball in the most unorthodox, orthodox fashion. "The Yankles" won Best Comedy at the International Family Film Festival, Audience Choice Best Comedy at the Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival, Audience Choice Best Feature at the Palm Beach International Film Festival, and the Golden Ace Award at the Las Vegas Film Festival. From Magnolia Home Entertainment, it comes to Blu-ray and DVD on June 5, just in time for Father's Day. Talk about your gift for the Dad who has everything!

Synopsis:

When a down-and-out ex-baseball player, Charlie Jones (Brian Wimmer), needs to meet his community service hours as a coach and no one wants him, it takes an obscure orthodox yeshiva baseball team to get him to see the light.  The humorous match made in heaven has both Charlie and a group of aspiring rabbis reaching unexpected triumphs, which results in entrance to the college world series.  With the championship victory in sight, will the Yankles and Charlie Jones be able to overcome their differences and achieve the ultimate grand slam victory?
