CONTRABAND and THE WOMAN IN BLACK top the May 29 Redbox rental lists
"The Woman in Black"—a throwback to the old Gothic Hammer films, starring Daniel Radcliffe in his first post-Pottter role—was the Number 1 Redbox DVD rental for the week of May 29, while "Contraband"—the Mark Wahlberg action-crime drama about a former smuggler who goes to Panama to bring back counterfeit money to save his brother-in-law—was the top Blu-ray rental.

It's anybody's guess how to interpret lists like these. Is it strictly an indicator of popularity—which films are hot? Or does it suggest the opposite—which films are not? I guess that all depends on whether the consumers are regular renters, or if many of them are simply renting films they know they don't want to buy and add to their collections.
