Among the latest offerings from New Yorker films are a pair of titles featuring animation—two good chances, really, to see what animators outside the U.S. are doing. Trailers are in the top photo display. Here's a description, in case they slipped under your radar:

"My Dog Tulip," from Paul and Sandra Fierlinger, tells the story of a man who rescues a German shepherd . . . and the dog repays the favor by providing the company the man has so desperately needed. Based on a book by J.R. Ackerley, it stars Christopher Plummer as the voice of Ackerley, with Lynn Redgrave, Isabella Rossellini, Peter Gerety, Brian Murray, Paul Hecht, and Euan Morton also lending their voices. It runs 82 minutes, in color, and comes with an SRP of $29.95. Included is a making-of featurette, the theatrical trailer, "MUTTS: Shelter Stories," downloadable materials, and a sneak peek.

"Nine Nation Animation" offers a sampler of short animated films from Norway, Turkey, France, Ireland, Germany, Belgium, Croatia, UK, South Africa, and Sweden. Total run-time is 82 minutes, in color, and a bonus film is included along with theatrical trailers. The films are "She Who Measures," by Veljko Popovic (Croatia); "Average 40 Matches," by Burkay Dogan (Turkey); "Please Say Something," by David O'Reilly (Ireland); "Flatlife," by Jonas Geimaert (Belgium); "Home Road Movies," by Robert Bradbrook (UK); "Bamiyan," by Pattrick Pleutin (France); "The Tale of How," by The Blackheart Gang (South Africa); and "Never Like the First Time!" by Jonas Odell (Sweden). Again, the SRP is $29.95.
