Saturday evening, Spike TV taped the fourth annual Scream Awards, celebrating the best in sci-fi, fantasy, horror, and comic books. This year's star studded affair featured a veritable who's who of guests including rock legend Keith Richards, Morgan Freeman, Johnny Depp, Megan Fox, Tobey Maguire, Eliza Dushku, Kate Bosworth, and Quentin Tarantino.

Richards, the inspiration for Captain Jack Sparrow, was presented with a lifetime achievement award by Depp who joked that after long after mankind went extinct the only things still living would be the cockroaches and Keith Richards. Marvel Comics guru, Stan "The Man" Lee, was also presented with a lifetime achievement award and was lowered to the stage via balloons while standing on a platform in the shape of Spider-Man's insignia. Balloon Boy, eat your heart out. The big-budget reboot of "Star Trek" won The Ultimate Scream award (Spike's version of Best Film), but before director J.J. Abrams could accept he was upstaged by the one and only William Shatner. The original Captain Kirk accepted the award on Abrams' behalf and wondered how much better the film could have been if he were in it.

Vampires had a huge presence at this year's awards show with "Let the Right One In," "True Blood," and "Twilight" receiving multiple nominations. The cast of the CW's new show, "The Vampire Diaries," presented the award for Best TV Show to HBO's "True Blood" while "Twilight" won for Best Fantasy Film. Spike promised to debut brand-new footage from the upcoming "New Moon" sequel during the awards, but the live audience was only shown previously-seen footage. "Twilight" stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were also nominated for Best Fantasy Actor and Actress, respectively, but neither award was presented during the taping. It seems Spike and Summit Entertainment are saving up something special for the actual broadcast which will air October 27th from 10PM to Midnight.
